Wollongong Hawks host Melbourne Tigers at WIN Entertainment Centre in a New Years Eve blockbuster on Tuesday. With the tip-off scheduled for 5.30pm this encounter serves as a great warm up for the night ahead, with plenty of time for fans to make their way to subsequent celebrations.
After two straight wins over local rivals Sydney Kings, the Hawks came back down to earth with a loss against the Tigers on Friday having led in the third term. Ultimately it was the Hawks’ inability to stop Chris Goulding that took the game away from them, with the NBL’s leading point scorer again making the difference in a tight game.
To have any chance of turning the tables in the reverse fixture the Hawks need to find a way of limiting Goulding’s shooting opportunities, while also increasing the chances for stars of their own such as Rotnei Clarke. The Hawks have the majority of their remaining games at home, and they have to start using this to their advantage as they push for a spot in the play-offs.
Fans attending this game are invited to move on to the harbour foreshore following the game to enjoy fireworks at 9pm. A big crowd is expected at WIN Entertainment Centre, hoping to see the Hawks end 2013 on a high note.
