Following a month on the road NSW Waratahs are finally back at home for a Super Rugby derby against ACT Brumbies at Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The game marks the beginning of a run of home fixtures that could provide the platform for a push up the ladder.
After defeat in the opening round the Waratahs bounced back into form with wins over the Rebels and Reds. The defending champions then went down to the Highlanders in Dunedin last weekend so a repeat of last years semi-final win over the Brumbies is vital to close the gap on the ladder.
With a perfect record from three games against fellow Australian opposition so far this season the Brumbies have already opened up a ten point gap over the Waratahs on the ladder. Revenge for that semi-final defeat will certainly be on the minds of Brumbies players as they look to take control of the Australian conference by completing an early season sweep of their domestic rivals.
Michael Cheika has made three changes to his squad, with Taqele Naiyaravoro and Tolu Latu promoted to the starting side. There is also a first appearence on the bench in 2015 for Hugh Roach.
With another family friendly afternoon kick-off fans are encouraged to arrive early and take advantage of a number of activities and pre-match entertainment. Following the match fans and members also have the opportunity to run out onto the Allianz Stadium turf.
