Australia v Samoa

November 9, 2014 by Kevin Moody Leave a Comment

It is a new look Kangaroos side lining up in the Four Nations tournament following a number of high profile withdrawals. There are no less than eleven players in the squad who are experiencing international football for the first time. Among the new faces is Newcastle’s Sione Mata’utia, who is now the youngest player ever to represent the Kangaroos.

Samoa are aiming to become the first nation to win a Four Nations pool match having been invited to participate in the tournament. Fans arriving early can also catch the Women’s International Test between Australia and New Zealand. The clash is a rematch of the 2013 World Cup final, where the Jillaroos caused an upset by beating the Kiwi Ferns.

Kangaroos look to avoid Samoa upset

November 8, 2014 by Kevin Moody

A tough afternoon is in store for the Kangaroos as they look to avoid an historic loss to Samoa

The final pool match of the 2014 Four Nations tournament takes place on Sunday with Australia facing Samoa at WIN Stadium. After losing to New Zealand in the opening game the Kangaroos managed a narrow win over England to stay alive in the tournament. Samoa have led in the second half of both their games, and were only five minutes away from causing a massive upset against the Kiwi’s.

It is a new look Kangaroos side lining up in the Four Nations following a number of high profile withdrawals. There are no less than eleven players in the squad who are experiencing international football for the first time.

Among the new faces is Newcastle’s Sione Mata’utia, who is now the youngest player ever to represent the Kangaroos. Beau Scott is also unavailable having picked up an injury against England, with Josh Papalii coming in as a replacement. Australia are looking to avoid the embarrassment of failing to reach the final of an international tournament for the first time in 60 years.

On the other hand, Samoa are aiming to become the first nation to win a Four Nations pool match having been invited to participate in the tournament. Antonio Winterstein and Pita Godinet have been promoted into the starting side.

Fans arriving early can also catch the Women’s International Test between Australia and New Zealand. The clash is a rematch of the 2013 World Cup final, where the Jillaroos caused an upset by beating the Kiwi Ferns.
