Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin’s former side travel to Sydney tonight as Sydney Swans host Hawthorn at ANZ Stadium. Franklin has overcome a knee injury in time to make the team, and with Kurt Tippett also back from his recent rib injury the Swans are able to pair their star forwards together for the first time.
It will be a big ask for both men to strike up an instant partnership, so it will again be the responsibility of the likes of Josh Kennedy and Jarrad McVeigh to continue the recent good form if the Swans are to emerge victorious on Friday night. Swans fans will hope to at least see some glimpses of what the most expensive forward pairing in AFL history has the potential to do later in the year as they get more game time together
The Hawks come into this game on the back of an astonishing 145 point victory over St Kilda. The huge win shows that Alistair Clarkson’s side have adapted well to the departure of Franklin and still have plenty of point scorers through the team. They are forced into two changes from last week with Sam Mitchell and Brian Lake both succumbing to injury
All pre-purchased tickets include return travel to ANZ Stadium via public transport, including Sydney Olympic Park Major Event buses in operation on the usual routes. Fans attending the game are advised to allow time for potential congestion around Homebush tonight with a big crowd expected at the ground, and a major concert taking place at Allphones Arena.
