Sydney Roosters host Parramatta Eels at Allianz Stadium with both teams focused on their push for spots in the NRL‘s top four and top eight respectively. The Roosters go into Round 23 only two points off the top of the ladder – with the best for and against tally in the competition – while the Eels maintained their faint hopes of making the finals by beating the Panthers last weekend.
The Roosters are looking to register their ninth consecutive victory, and capitalise on recent setbacks for the Broncos and Cowboys. Should they continue their winning run on Saturday the Roosters will be well placed to claim a third straight NRL Minor Premiership.
Sitting four points outside the top eight Saturday night is win or bust for the Eels. Their for and against record is far worse than those around them, so one more loss will surely end their season.
A Broken foot sustained against the Panthers in Darwin has ruled Brad Takairangi out for the rest of the season. He becomes the seventh Eels player to have their season ended prematurely in what has been a difficult year for the club on and off the field. Hooker Isaac De Gois will make his 2ooth NRL appearance.
