The 2015 NRL season will come to an end for either Cronulla Sharks or South Sydney Rabbitohs following their Elimination final at Allianz Stadium on Sunday. The match sees the 2014 Grand Final winners (Souths) taking on the team that landed last year’s wooden spoon (Sharks).
The winning side will go through to an Elimination Final against the Cowboys in Townsville next Saturday. With so much at stake another tight contest is on the cards, after the three finals matches played earlier in the weekend finished with a winning margin of four points or less.
Cronulla had the chance to secure a spot in the top four, but a shock loss to Manly in the final round has left them in this sudden-death showdown. The Sharks will have Andrew Fifita available again following suspension, and he has been named to play from the bench. With Ben Barba also making a return from injury to make the bench the Sharks are back to full strength.
South Sydney’s title defence has imploded over the final weeks of the season, with injuries, suspensions and individual poor form all contributing to a run of three straight losses that has seen them concede over 100 points. Captain Greg Inglis will return at fullback, however the Rabbitohs have now lost forward George Burgess to suspension.
