GWS Giants and Sydney Swans will face off in what is possibly the most keenly anticipated Battle of the Bridge in the short history of the AFL Sydney derby. With the Giants still in contention for a place in the finals, and the Swans looking to secure a spot in the top four, there is plenty at stake for both sides in this round 21 clash.
Squad depth will be tested for both clubs with key men absent for this match. Giants co-captain Phil Davis has succumbed to a hamstring injury, while the Swans are feeling the affects of a growing list of stars on the treatment table.
Luke Parker was the latest to be forced to the sidelines, although thankfully his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared. Lance Franklin has failed to recover from the back injury that has seen him miss the last two games.
As always the Swans are the overwhelming favourites to win the derby. However, the Giants are better equipped than at any previous time to take the game to their cross-town rivals, and they did of course notch an upset win in the corresponding fixture in 2014. GWS have also lost just one game at Spotless Stadium so far in 2015.
